In this week’s Alan Myerscough Ulverston & District Bowling League Division 1 the leading positions have been sorted with a week of the season remaining. Lindal Moor retained their championship following their 11-4 win at Post Office. John Reilly currently leads the merit table following his win and looks favourite to take the individual title, other winners for Lindal were Ian Hall, and Simon Perry and Joe Bennett whilst Mike Fieldhouse and Brian Beard were the pick for the Post Office. Hawcoat Park once again found themselves coming runners up to Lindal despite a 13-1 win against Askam. Leading wins for them coming from Tonie Moxham, Alan Fay and Roy Moxham with Chris Atkinsons win for the villagers staving off the whitewash. Roose Cons will finish a somewhat distant third following their 10-5 win at Glaxo for whom Jeff Hinde and Rod Lewis showed good form, whilst for the Cons Mike Hool and Derek Yates were to the fore. In the all Dalton affair the Cricket Club were 11-3 winners over the Cons, the leading winners were Gareth Jones and Bryan Woodburn for the Cricketers and Andy McDonald for the Cons. Barrow Island kept their survival hopes alive with a single chalk win at fellow strugglers West Mount, leaving the latter to sweat. The Island s pick in the 8-7 win were Stuart Turnbull and Steven Hunter with the Mounts Alan Biggins and Chas Crellin reciprocating. In Division 2 Walney Park having wrapped up the title continue to be unbeaten a record they will be keen to hold on to with one game left to play. This week they beat Glaxo S K ‘A’ 13-1 with Bill Wakefield’s win preventing a whitewash . In form for the park were Keith Dixon and Ian Fairclough. Ulverston Cons beat Roose Cons ‘B’ 11-3 with good wins from Dave Nicholson, Les Tallon and Tom Higgin whilst Gordon Rigg was Roose’s best. Police had a 9-5 win over lowly Co-op S C ‘A’ with Colin Towers and Alan Slater amongst the points whilst for the Co-op ‘A’ team Paul McHugh picked up a fine win. Meanwhile the Co-op first team were losing 10-5 at home to Dalton C C ‘A’ for whom Bob Mantle and Neil Jones featured. Red River picked up a welcome win when beating Walney Park ‘A’ 8-6 at the River. In form for the River were Rob Jones, Alan Turner and Jack Stagg.
